Discover the charm of Nubra Valley, where you can enjoy a unique double-humped camel ride at the Hunder sand dunes. Conclude your journey at the mesmerizing Pangong Lake, famous for its ever-changing hues, and extend your adventure to the remote beauty of Hanle and Umling La.

Detailed Itinerary


Day 1: Arrival in Leh – Acclimatization


Upon arrival at Leh Airport, you will be warmly welcomed and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy a refreshing welcome tea/coffee.

The day is reserved for acclimatization to high altitude. In the afternoon, visit Shanti Stupa and explore Leh Market.

Overnight Stay: Leh - Karma Lodge


Day 2: Sham Valley Excursion


Distance: 140 km | Duration: 6–7 hrs

After breakfast, proceed for a full-day excursion covering:

  • Hall of Fame Museum 
  • Spituk Monastery 
  • Gurdwara Pathar Sahib 
  • Magnetic Hill 
  • Indus & Zanskar Confluence 

Later, visit Alchi Monastery (11th century) and return to Leh by evening.

Overnight Stay: Leh - Karma Lodge


Day 3: Leh to Nubra Valley (Hunder)


Distance: 125 km | Duration: 4–5 hrs

Drive via Khardung La Pass (18,380 ft) to Nubra Valley.

Visit:

  • Diskit Monastery 
  • Maitreya Buddha Statue 

Enjoy a Bactrian camel ride at Hunder sand dunes.

Overnight Stay: Nubra Valley


Day 4: Nubra to Pangong Lake (via Shyok Valley)


Distance: 145 km | Duration: 5–6 hrs

Drive through scenic Shyok Valley to Pangong Lake. Spend time enjoying the breathtaking views of the lake.

Overnight Stay: Pangong Lake Camp


Day 5: Pangong to Hanle via Rezang La


Distance: 200 km | Duration: 7–8 hrs

Drive along Pangong Lake to Chushul and visit Rezang La War Memorial.

Arrive at Hanle, home to one of the world’s highest astronomical observatories.

Overnight Stay: Hanle Homestay


Day 6: Hanle – Umling La – Leh


Distance: 200 km | Duration: 7–8 hrs

Early morning excursion to Umling La Pass, one of the highest motorable roads in the world. Return to Leh via scenic routes, with stops en route. Evening free for shopping and leisure.

Overnight Stay: Leh - Karma Lodge


Day 7: Departure from Leh


After breakfast, transfer to Leh Airport for your onward journey with unforgettable memories of Ladakh.

Matho Monastery

 Matho Monastery (also spelled Mato Gompa) is one of the most distinctive and culturally significant monasteries in Ladakh, located about 26 km southeast of Leh across the Indus River. Perched on a hill in the Indus Valley, Matho is especially famous for its unique oracle festival and its affiliation with the Sakya school of Tibetan Buddhism. Matho Monastery was founded in the early 15th century (around 1410) by Lama Dugpa Dorje. It is the only monastery in Ladakh belonging to the Sakya sect of Tibetan Buddhism, which makes it particularly important in the region’s religious landscape.
