Pangong Tso — meaning high grassland lake in Tibetan — stretches 134 km from India deep into Chinese-controlled territory. Only the Indian portion (about 45 km) is accessible to visitors, but that is more than enough to leave you speechless.

Getting There

The drive from Leh takes approximately 5–6 hours via Chang La (5,360m), the third highest motorable pass in the world. The road is rough in sections but the scenery is extraordinary — from arid desert to lush valleys to the first shocking flash of blue lake.
